Last meeting we heard from guest speaker Ben Clare via Zoom. Ben told us of how he
provides and sets up equipment for teaching the visually impaired in a school for disabled
children in Kiribati.
Ben is severely visually impaired and is able to set up the
computers for use at the school using special software
that adapts computers for use by the visually impaired.
The photo shows ben speaking to us from a tropical
island with palm trees gently swaying in the breeze but
he pointed out that the setting was a Zoom background
and he was at his home in Sydney.
Thank you Ben for giving us an insight to the great work
you are doing to make life better for disabled people in
the more remote parts of the world.
Next Club Meeting
The next Club meeting 02 Jun 2025
Our next club meeting will be held at the Mooloolaba Bowls Club. The guest speaker will be
Ms Fleur Maidment who will be talking on A Myanmar project "Safe Water for Every
Child".
Fleur will be speaking via ZOOM. Fleur is an environmental scientist and manages a project
"Safe Water for every Child - Myanmar". Her team provides safe drinking water for over
70,000 people in remote camps and villages since 2018, She works to provide humanitarian
aid to the 3.5 million Myanmar refugees and the 200,000 displaced people as a result of the
recent earthquake.
