President Ian Barnett
Next Saturday the District is holding the Presidents Elect training and the District Assembly
for the eastern clubs in Caboolture. This heralds the start of the planning for the next Rotary
Year. President Elect Sandra and her board will soon be looking for people to chair the many
committees that manage the Club and its various projects.
Over the years various people have fulfilled these roles and because of the experience they
have gained do their jobs exceptionally well. A number of these people have indicated that
they do not wish to continue in their current positions next year. If you are asked to take on
one of these roles don’t be concerned that you may not be able to do the job as well as the
current person. They will still be available to assist you and you will become an expert.
If you are asked to take a role in next year’s committees please give it due consideration. It is
a privilege to be part of the management team of a great club.
The spirit of Rotary
As many of you will be aware, our member Paul Robins was severely injured in a skiing
accident in Europe and is recovering in hospital in hospital. Janene is with him but it will be
some time before Paul will be able to fly home.
Paul was skiing with the International Fellowship of Skiing Rotarians when the accident
occurred and Paul and Janene have been supported by members of the Fellowship. Before
going skiing they had visited the family of our past exchange student Robert Quack and his
parents Thomas and Karin (who are both doctors) who have also given their support.
Although far away and unable to provide physical support to Paul and Janene our thoughts
are with them and we wish Paul a speedy recovery and return home.
